Madreee/Padreee/Familiaaaaaa,
That's exciting school has started and things! I wish I was there to help you get your classroom put together and that jungle theme sounds quite fantastic!
Thanks for getting that package ready! Sorry but if you haven't sent it can you put a big thing of M & m's in it, and star bursts, and whatever... the food here is really good but I miss all the vending machine food I've enjoyed for the last year. They had the same vendies at the mtc in porvo as I had in the dorms so now living without a magical swipy card that never ran out of money for vendy food has been really tough.
This week's been sooooppaaaiiirrr. I can't believe I've already been here for 2 weeks, I'm almost done with my first missionary planner! The food is really good but has been doing bad things to everyone's digestive systems. Sister Hendricks the mtc president's wife walks around with a plate full of peptobismal pills and hands them out to people with a spoon during lunch. It's really funny.
The weather here is really random. I think it's way hot but It seems more bearable to be outside in the middle of the day here than it was at home. Sometimes there's crazy rain storms that last for about 10 minutes and there'll be a lake in the parking lot but then by the time we get out to gym it'll be dry again. And a few days ago it was thundering so loud that car alarms were going off! I really like gym here, I play basketball everyday, and it's awesome. I think gym in provo was a little better but it's way fun here. Everyone get's so sweaty but yeah... It's still lots of fun!
The two highlights of the week are when we get to leave the mtc. We get to leave on monday for the university and then thursday to do service at the university. There's tons of people who drive around on these little dirtbike/moped things. They basiclly look like a little bicycle with a motor being held on with a belt. Driving here would be way scary too. Like there was a 8 lane intersection I think, or just 4 lanes crossing eachother on each direction and the traffic lights weren't working, so all the cars just kinda blare their horn and drive through... I'm amazed that none of us died trying to cross the street getting to the university. And the power goes out a lot too. If you look at all the street electricity pole things there's just like 9,000 wires all going in to them. And some wires will be hanging down and it's really unorganized. I guess since the power goes out since a lot a lot the people who live here will find a way to just run a wire from their house and connect it to the other wires and steal the electricty.. The mtc president was saying that the reason we'll see people missing arms is because they'll be up trying to get connected to the electricity and then the power will turn on as they're doing it.. it's really sad..... but on that note,
All our teachers are really cool! Hermana Parra is awesome, she's way nice and is one of the easier teachers to understand because she talks a lot clearer. Hermano Sanchez is way cool too, he laughs really really really hard at everything, so class is really fun with him. Hermano Rubio always comes with Hermano Sanchez, he just got off his mission a few months ago and he´s really fun to talk with. I love speaking in spanish to people, I think I probably sound like an idiot when I´m talking to people but It´s way fun! Wellllllll my time is up but I hope all is well at home!
Les amo!
Elder Young
